Download The MP3 Here On this edition of the show, we get a brief conversation with writer Mark Millar, who's on a whirlwind tour promoting the UK release of the Kick Ass DVD. We discuss the debut of CLINT magazine this Thursday . A 100 page anthology of comics articles and comedy from UK stars like Jonathon Ross and Frankie Boyle, Mark compares his new venture to it’s Uk preedecessors from The Eagle and 2000AD on the comics side, to the Lad magazines of today like FHM and Maxim. We discuss the magazine's content , format, and the very bold notion of starting a new paper magazine while others are going out of business every month. Clint will feature the UK debuts of the new comic Kick Ass 2 and Nemesis, which will still be comming out in North America through Marvel's Icon imprint. Mark explains how the two methods of distribution will work. He also teases at some future project plans on paper and in film, including the confirmation that Kick ass2 is being green lit, based on world wide box office and projected DVD sales.

Download The MP3 From Here From last weekend’s Wizard World Chicago Comicon I moderated this panel with DC artist Ethan Van Sciver . In addition to words about his early art beginnings , We looked back at his original creation Cyberfrog, creating new villains for The Flash and Green Lantern, his transformation of Sinestro into the modern threat he represents to current DC continuity and discuss his future plans which include some writing such as a new story in October’s Untold Tales Of The Blackest Night . In addition Ethan arranged for a baby grand piano for the room, and performed several f his original songs about Wolverine , Star Trek, The BP Oil disaster , and a post nuclear war future. By the way, in the center of the photo above, that's the controversial ex-governor of Illinois Rod Blagojevich, flanked by Ethan and his pal Gil.

Download The Mp3 Here I was honored to host this spotlight panel focusing on the careers of Kathryn and Stuart Immonen from their beginnings in the late 1980’s black and white independent comics scene in Toronto. We talk about their first joint project Playground a punk rock murder mystery , and subsequent work for Vortex, Caliber and Revolutionary Comics . They also go in-depth about their new graphic novel Moving Pictures from Top Shelf, which collects the entire story that was first presented as a weekly web comic. Stuart discussed how he arrived at the style for the web comic, which he could conform to without straying too far from his daily drawing style for books like Ultimate Spider-Man and New Avengers . You’ll also hear about their next collaboration which is just getting started called Russian Olive To Red King. You’ll hear about Kathryn’s latest writing efforts from the recent weekly 5 part mini series Heralds for Marvel , her Shamrock story in Girls Comics drawn by Colleen Coover, and call backs to her work on Runaways with Sara Pichelli and Hellcat with David LaFuente . Kathryn promises more Patsy Walker/Hellcat in the near future. Stuart also discusses the prospects of more Nextwave from himself and Warren Ellis, and his current work on New Avengers with Brian Bendis.
